Canadian-American roots rock group The Band was formed in 1968 after a group of artists came together post band breakups. They began after being hired for Bob Dylan™ U.S. tour in 1965 and world tour in 1966. After two decades of performing on and off, The Band experienced diminished popularity. They performed in theaters and clubs as headliners and took support slots in larger venues for onetime peers such as the Grateful Dead and Crosby, Stills, and Nash.
The Band would release ten albums and continue to collaborate with Dylan as he enjoyed working with them on his tours. The group was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1989 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. In 2008 they received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2014, The Band was inducted into Canada Walk of Fame.
